Panthers douse Flames to snap five-game losing streak

Cats claw back to .500 with a 4-3 win over visiting Calgary

The struggling Florida Panthers defeated the Calgary Flames by a 4-3 count to snap a five-game (0-3-2) slide. The win, although somewhat on the sloppy side, enabled the Cats to get off to a good start on a stretch that sees the team at home for seven of eight games.

After a early tussle between Derek MacKenzie and Josh Jooris, who boarded Aaron Ekblad earlier, Vincent Trocheck opened the scoring at 5:16 of the first with Calgary defenseman Kris Russell serving an interference minor.
