The Florida Panthers summer acquisitions shone in Sunday afternoon’s 4-2 preseason win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Jamie McGinn, just in from Arizona, opened the scoring when he deflected Ian McCoshen’s shot from the point past Tampa Bay netminder Peter Budaj 5:39 into the first period. Da Beauty League standout Nick Bjugstad drew the secondary assist on the play.
The host Lightning evened the game up on Alexander Volkov’s goal at 14:30 of the second period. The Volkov marker was set up by Matthew Peca and Alex Killorn.
Florida’s new top line clicked 32 seconds later to restore the one-goal advantage.
