SUNRISE (CBSMiami/AP) — A late tying goal had the BB&T Center jumping and ready for overtime.
Unfortunately for all those Florida Panthers fans, the extra session didn’t last long.
Columbus defenseman Seth Jones scored 18 seconds into overtime and the Blue Jackets defeated the Panthers 4-3 on Saturday night.
Jones’ overtime goal was his seventh, the most regular-season overtime goals among defensemen since the 2013-14 season, tying him with Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
Pierre-Luc Dubois made a pass from his knees from the left side to Jones in the right circle, and his shot beat Reimer on the glove side in the opening minute of the extra period.
