In the early hours this morning, Jonathan Huberdeau signed a two-year deal with the Florida Panthers worth about $7 million, ending months of speculation and possible drama. The Panthers will pay the young winger $2 million this season, $3.5 million next season, and would be a restricted free agent after the contract ends. Huberdeau would not be an unrestricted free agent because he would not be 27 years old, or have played at least 7 seasons in the NHL.
For Panther fans, this is welcome news in a situation that was teetering on being quite annoying.
