John Klingberg scores late to dim Cats’ playoff chances

The Florida Panthers inability to score in the second and/or third period continued to plague the club in a 2-1 loss to the Dallas Stars Saturday night at the BB&T Center.

Florida latest defeat on home ice left them stranded two points behind the New York Islanders for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, with the Isles having played one fewer game.

Dallas jumped out to an early lead when Tyler Seguin’s quick crossing pass left James Reimer out of position and Jamie Benn able to tap the puck into a gaping net. Jason Spezza picked up the secondary assist on Benn’s team-leading 24th goal.
