Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr was awarded the 2016 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy last night at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, site of the league's newest team, Nevada.
Florida's executive chairman Peter Luukko accepted the honor on behalf of Jagr, who was unable to attend the ceremony.
Jagr, who posted a team-best 66 points (27G-39A), beat out Pascal Dupuis of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Mats Zuccarello of the New York Rangers for the award the goes to "the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dediation to hockey" as selected by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association.
