The Florida Panthers (23-20-5) have a chance to pull closer to a playoff spot when they pay a visit to the New York Rangers (25-14-7) tonight at Madison Square Garden. While a regulation win would’ve have obviously been better, the New Jersey Devils did lend the Cats a helping hand with a 2-1 overtime win over the Pittsburgh Penguins yesterday. That result leaves the Panthers three points behind the Penguins, having played two more games. After posting an exciting 5-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, Florida enters tonight’s tilt on a 7-2-1 run.
