SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today they will host a Panther Conservation Night on Saturday, Jan. 23 when the Panthers host the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:00 p.m.
The Florida Panthers Foundation is partnering with Panther conservationists in South Florida to raise awareness and funds to help preserve the Florida panther, an endangered species.
The Florida panther once ranged throughout the southeastern U.S. from Arkansas and Louisiana eastward across Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and parts of South Carolina and Tennessee. Now, the Florida panther is one of the most endangered mammals in the United States and only an estimated 100-180 Florida panthers remain in the wild.
