About two months ago, I wrote an article about the Florida Panthers needing to find a replacement for Roberto Luongo. When I wrote it, I felt like there was no way Luongo was going to hold out for the remainder of his contract thats carries until 2022.
Apparently I wasn’t the only person who felt that way because July 1st saw the Panthers pick up James Reimer, dubbed “Optimus Reim” by the media. He was a guy who seemed to be doomed to failure in Toronto. With Toronto looking to completely rebuild its franchise with new and fresh talent, it left Reimer with a questionable future with the current Leafs.
