The National Hockey League announced that Florida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov has been named one of three finalists for the 2019-19 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy awarded to “the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability”.
The 23-year-old Barkov led the Panthers with a franchise record 96 points (35G/61A) and finished 10th in NHL scoring, Barkov set career-highs in games played, goals, assists, points, power-play goals (13), power-play points (31), faceoff win percentage (53.69), shooting percentage (17.0) and takeaways (100).
