The Portland Pirates are off to an exciting start in the Calder Cup Playoffs.
In Game 3, forward Rob Flick scored in triple overtime to give the Pirates a 2-1 win and a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five series with the Hershey Bears. The lengthy contest not only set a new franchise record as the longest game in Portland’s history, but was also the 20th longest in AHL history.
After securing a much-needed victory in such a dramatic fashion, Pirates goaltender Mike McKenna believes that his team will be able to continue feeding off that same emotion and excitement heading into a potential series-clinching game on Saturday.
