MIAMI – The FIU women's soccer team dropped a tightly contested contest by a 1-0 margin on its home pitch against Western Kentucky on Friday night.
Following over 70 minutes of scoreless play, the Hilltoppers finally broke through with the match's lone goal when Kenlee Newcom put away a loose ball in the penalty box at the 70:42 mark following a corner attempt.
The Panthers, who outshot Western Kentucky 14-11 in the loss, controlled the possession for the majority of the contest but were unable to put one past WKU goalie Alexis Bach, who finished with seven saves.
