The FIU Women's Cross Country team has been ranked 14th in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region rankings, released on Monday.
It marks just the second time in the history of the program that the team has attained a top 15 mark. Last season, the Panthers held the 15th spot in the poll during week three of the regular season.
Preceding that, the FIU women finished the 1999 season ranked 17th in the regional poll.
Led by Sherilene Gelderblom, the Panthers earned victories at the UCF and USF Invitationals this season, and most recently finished sixth at the Conference USA Championships, with Gelderblom garnering third team all conference honors.
