DALLAS (Feb. 24, 2021) - Kamila Umarova was named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week after leading the FIU women's tennis team to two wins, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The honor is the first of Umarova's career and the first for the FIU women's tennis program since Basak Akbas earned the honor on March 6, 2019.
Umarova won four matches last week, with two coming in singles action and two in doubles play with ranked partner Akbas. The Panthers downed North Florida 5-2 at home, before blanking Stetson 7-0 on the road.
