AUSTIN, Texas (March 22, 2019) - Senior Naomi Ruele broke a school record in the 100 backstroke, capping her day at the NCAA Championships on Friday in Austin.

Ruele, who competed in the 100 backstroke, placed 27th overall for the highest NCAA finish of her Panther career. Additionally, the time of 52.42 sets a program record in the event. Despite not qualifying for the finals on Friday, the feat marks another impressive accomplishment for Ruele's resume.
Fellow Panther and freshman Maha Gouda did not appear in any events on Friday, but will be back in action on Saturday.
