MIAMI (July 30, 2021) - Elinah Phillip of the FIU women's swimming and diving team posted a personal best time of 25.74 in the 50 meter freestyle at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Friday, which also set a national record for the British Virgin Islands in the event.
Phillip, competing in her second Olympic Games, swam in Heat 6 of the women's 50 free and placed second among the group. The Panther narrowly missed first place in Heat 6, touching the wall only .38 seconds after Anicka Delgado, a sophomore swimmer from USC representing the country of Ecuador.
