Indiana scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to come from behind to defeat FIU 34-13 in the season opener for both teams on Thursday night at FIU Stadium.
Down 13-12, the Hoosiers took the lead for good when quarterback Richard Lagow connected with Danny Friend on a 21-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter. Lagow added a 6-yard touchdown run with 6:54 left in the game to extend the Indiana lead to 27-13.
The Hoosiers used a balanced offense to take control of the game late. Indiana rushed for 246 total yards and passed for 240 yards.
