FIU women's basketball outscored UAB 31-11 in points off turnovers and got its first conference win of 2016, in a 72-61 victory over the Blazers at Lime Court at FIU Arena Thursday night.
The league win was the first for new FIU Head Coach Marlin Chinn and the first for the program since February 22, 2014.
"I was proud of the way that we fought tonight," said Chinn after the game. "We have proven we can come out and play 20 minutes, but we needed to see if we can play 40 and that's the effort they had to give tonight.
