MIAMI– FIU senior designated player Michaela Mills provided a spark on senior day and junior pitcher Megan Kugelmann came on in relief to pick up her second win of the series as the Panthers completed the series sweep of Charlotte, 6-4, Sunday afternoon at Felsberg Field. Mills finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and jump-started a five-run sixth inning for the Panthers who moved to 29-23 overall and 13-7 in Conference USA play – good enough for second place heading into the final regular season weekend.
FIU starting pitcher Shannon Saile (17-9) set a single season school record bringing her 2018 total to 247 strikeouts after picking up nine more strikeouts against the 49ers (15-32, 6-15 C-USA).
