DELAND, Fla. – Junior and senior each drilled homers and the FIU softball team posted seven runs in the third inning as it cruised to its ninth consecutive win by a 10-2 margin over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday afternoon at the Stetson Invitational.
Lewis opened the game's scoring with a solo shot to right center to put the Panthers up 1-0. The Wildcats managed to tie the score in the top of the third on an RBI double by Desirae Martinez – but it was all FIU from there.
The Panthers exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the third with Whitehead providing a three-run blast to right to key the offensive surge.
