ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The FIU men's basketball team outlasted UNC Greensboro for a 74-71 overtime win in its final game of the Jersey Mikes Classic on Sunday evening.
The win marked the fourth straight for the Panthers and allowed them to finish a perfect 3-0 during this week's Jersey Mike's Classic in St. Petersburg. FIU ran off three wins in the last four days over Ball State, Green Bay and UNC Greensboro.
FIU outscored the Spartans 9-6 in overtime after the two teams finished regulation deadlocked at 65-65.
Junior Tevin Brewer scored five of the Panthers' nine points in the extra session, including a clutch three-pointer that gave FIU the lead for good at 70-67 with 3:28 left.
