On the first day of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft, FIU had two members of its top-ranked 2017 signing class drafted by the teams that met in the 2014 World Series.
Outfielder Heliot Ramos was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the first round as the 19th overall draft pick. Catcher MJ Melendez was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the second round as the 52nd overall pick.
Ramos (below) and Melendez are part of the 2017 FIU class, which was ranked No. 1 in the nation by Perfect Game.
