The Basics
- The FIU beach volleyball team got back on the court Friday morning for its first match of the 2018 NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with the eighth-seeded Panthers taking on top-seeded – and the No. 1 team in the nation – UCLA in the first round. Unfortunately, for FIU, it was the Bruins that struck quickly, defeating the Panthers, 3-0, to advance to the afternoon winners bracket where they will face the four-seed, Florida State, who defeated the five-seed – and three-time defending National Champions – Southern California (3-1).
