Baseball Alumnus J.C. Escarra Earns Spot on Yankees’ Opening Day Roster

MIAMI – Former FIU baseball standout J.C. Escarra has been called up to the New York Yankees' Opening Day roster, the team announced Saturday afternoon.

A native of Hialeah, Fla., Escarra was added to the Yankees' 26-man roster after an impressive minor league career spanning over 450 games.

During his time at FIU (2014-17), Escarra made a significant impact, recording 20 home runs and 109 RBIs across 175 games while batting .276. His career games played rank among the top 20 in program history.
