LOS ANGELES (Oct. 5, 2017) – FIU senior Andrea Lazaro defeated Auburn's Alizee Michaud, 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the main draw of the 2017 Riviera/ITA All-American Championship, on Thursday afternoon at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
The upset victory over Michaud, the No. 9-ranked player in the country and No. 8 seed in the event's main draw, marked the biggest win in Lazaro's singles career and in FIU tennis history. A native of Barcelona, Spain, Lazaro also defeated other two nationally ranked players during the tournament; No. 61 Stefana Andrei of Louisiana-Monroe and No.
