DELAND, Fla. – The FIU softball team scored three runs in the top of the sixth on three hits and two errors to run its winning steak to 10 consecutive games with a 3-1 victory over Stetson on Saturday afternoon at the Stetson Invitational.
The Panthers opened the decisive inning with three consecutive base hits by Carmen Perez, Brooke McCann and Kayla Whitehead. Brittany Phillips drove home Perez on a sacrifice fly and two more came home when Madison Lewis reached on an error by Stetson infielder Jules Schumacher to give FIU all the runs it needed.
