University of Florida president Dr. Kent Fuchs said he walked into the Otis Hawkins Center for Academic and Personal Excellence at Farrior Hall for the first time Monday and felt envious.
“Only a handful of universities in the nation can say they excel in athletics and academics,” Fuchs said. “The Hawkins Center gives us a competitive edge in recruiting students, and it gives them a competitive edge in their studies and when they graduate and pursue activities after UF.”
UF held a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday to unveil the $25 million renovation project for advising and tutoring of nearly 500 student-athletes.
