The father of Florida quarterback Will Grier wrote that his son's positive drug test was a mistake "of naivete, not of malice."
Grier's father, Chad, made his remarks in a first-person essay on the Sporting News' website, here.
The elder Grier said he is still proud of his son, who violated the NCAA's policy on performance-enhancing drugs and has been suspended for a year, barring UF's appeal.
"His story is not mine to tell," Chad Grier wrote. "But I do know the fats. I do know that his mistake was one of naivete, not of malic.
