After a year playing overseas and some strong summer league performances, former Florida point guard Scottie Wilbekin is moving closer to making an NBA roster.
Wilbekin agreed to a four-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, opting out of a deal in Australia to attend training camp with the team.
The deal is non-guaranteed, but the 6-foot-2 Wilbekin opened eyes with Sixers brass by averaging 12.4 points and 2 assists in five summer league games while shooting 44.1 percent (15 of 34) from 3-point range. If Wilbekin plays like that during the preseason in October, his chances of making Philadelphia’s roster will be strong.
