Mike Summers hasn’t just been around the block.
He’s lapped it several times.
Florida’s offensive line coach is in his 36th season as a college assistant and rarely encounters a situation he hasn’t faced before.
But last weekend, in his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky, Summers had to use three players who are half as old as his coaching career that began as a grad assistant with the Wildcats.
Summers, 59, put a trio of true freshman offensive linemen in the game for the Gators.
“That’s probably something that can’t be aired in public,” Summers said when asked what went through his mind at the time.
