Josh Hammond has been coming to Gainesville and hanging around the Florida football program since he was seven or eight years old, so this has always felt like home to him.
And yet when the wide receiver from Hallandale stepped on the practice field for the first time last spring he felt lost -- a stranger in a strange place.
That’s what can happen when a true freshman, a kid who could have still been in high school, is thrown into a new and sophisticated college offense.
It can be overwhelming -- and it was for Hammond, the younger brother of former UF wide receiver Frankie Hammond Jr.
