HOOVER, ALA. — Florida’s toe-to-toe battle with Alabama during the 2020 SEC Championship signaled significant progress for Dan Mullen’s program.
Despite pushing coach Nick Saban’s squad and beating Georgia to win the SEC East division, Mullen and defensive stalwarts Zachary Carter and Ventrell Miller arrived to SEC Media Days Monday sitting behind the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs in the league pecking order.
The consensus this offseason has been Georgia and Alabama will vie for league superiority, but Florida will have plenty to say about that.
In Alabama’s case, Mullen said he wishes its Sept. 18 visit to the Swamp was not a once-in-a-decade thing.
