The ongoing Antonio Callaway Title IX case has already cost the University of Florida more than $170,000 in legal fees, according to documents obtained by the Tampa Bay Times.
The outside law firm O'Melveny & Myers began its work for UF on Aug. 11, a day after Callaway's accuser filed a federal complaint against the school's handling of the case. From August through April, the firm billed UF $172,265.72, according to receipts obtained under open-records laws.
Most of the work was performed after the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights began investigating UF in January.
