GAINESVILLE — Josh Tobias is having a senior year to remember.
After three up-and-down seasons to start his collegiate baseball career, the UF third baseman is thriving as his time at Florida nears its end.
Tobias completed his final regular season with a bang, belting out a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give No. 6 Florida a 3-1 win over Auburn on Saturday to clinch UF's final SEC series. Fellow senior Bobby Poyner earned the save on the mound after coming in for the final out of the game. The Gators ended the regular season 40-15 and 19-11 in SEC play, giving UF a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament, which starts Tuesday in Hoover, Ala.
