Florida’s passing game looked much the same during the first quarter and a half against Tennessee-Martin.
The accuracy was there as Franks completed his first nine passes, but the aggressiveness wasn’t — especially against an FCS opponent. The completed passes went for just 37 yards.
Midway through the second quarter, however, Franks went through his progressions and heaved a deep ball to receiver Van Jefferson, who caught it in stride for a 69-yard touchdown. Jefferson was one of 11 different receivers to record a catch during the Gators’ 45-0 win over the Skyhawks Saturday night.
“I think the offensive line started getting me to reach out, staying with their blocks with the three-man rush, helping each other out, and [the receivers] did a great job getting open,” Franks said.
