Point guard Andrew Nembhard faced a decision about his playing future, but it appeared to be between returning to UF for his junior season and turning professional.
Instead, Nembhard decided to withdraw from the NBA draft and transfer to another college with two seasons of eligibility remaining, a team spokesman confirmed Saturday.
The surprising move ends Nembhard’s two-year stint starting every game at point guard for the Gators. The decision paves the way for Cleveland State transfer Tyree Appleby to assume point guard duties and the team to play a more up-tempo style next season.
Combo guard Tre Mann, a native of Gainesville, also could withdraw his name from the draft, return for his sophomore season and see playing time at the point.
