JACKSONVILLE — Different players mature at different timetables.
Expectations were high for Florida junior point guard Kasey Hill coming out high school as a McDonald’s All-American. Hill showed flashes of brilliance as a freshman backing up SEC player of the year Scottie Wilbekin, tying an NCAA Tournament record with 10 assists in a Sweet 16 win over UCLA.
Some struggles in Hill’s first year as a starter as a sophomore carried over into his junior year. But Hill continued the most consistent stretch of his career during UF’s 97-68 NIT win over UNF on Tuesday night.
