The new Florida head coach has spent some time this week talking about layups, free throws and 3-pointers.
No, we’re not talking about Michael White, the new basketball coach. We’re talking about Jim McElwain, a football coach who uses basketball terms to describe the Gators’ passing game.
A free throw is a short throw that the defense gives you.
A layup is a short, safe pass.
That must mean a 3-pointer is a deep ball.
“There you go,” McElwain said.
