UF junior Kyle Pitts becoming complete TE for Gators

GAINESVILLE — Kyle Pitts' talents as a pass catcher were evident during his first training camp at UF two summers ago, leading coaches to toy with the idea making long, lanky freshman a wide receiver.

But Tim Brewster knows a tight end when he sees one after earning All-Big Ten honors at the position while at Illinois and coaching tight ends since the late 1980s.

“I’m going to tell you what: there’s talk about him being a big wide receiver, this and that,” Brewster said. "I’m going to tell you: this guy is a complete guy.”

The 6-foot-6, 239-pound Pitts put on 11 pounds of muscle and increasingly focused on becoming a more effective in-line blocker.
