GAINESVILLE — Florida defensive end Zachary Carter had little to celebrate as the confetti fell last December at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“That SEC title game really left a bad taste in my mouth because we were right there,” Carter said of his team’s 52-46 loss to the Crimson Tide. “After that game, I stayed on the field. I watched them celebrate. I watched the confetti. At that moment, I was like, ‘Man, we were that close.’ I said, ‘We’ll be back next year.’
