Charlton Warren’s route to his new job as the Florida Gators’ cornerbacks coach was anything but routine.
He played defensive back for three seasons at the Air Force Academy. As a senior, the Atlanta native earned the team’s “Mr. Intensity Award,” an annual accolade given to the most outstanding performer in the weight room.
He graduated in 1999 with a degree in human factors engineering. Warren served his country at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia from 2000-03 by redesigning fighter jets and cargo planes, all while earning his MBA. After being stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida as the joint direct munitions program manger, he joined the staff of his alma mater as a secondary coach before moving on to stints with Nebraska, North Carolina and Tennessee in the same position.
