UF coach Dan Mullen said Saturday’s homecoming no-show in the Swamp extended beyond his football team.
Mullen also believes Gator fans need to do a better job supporting the program during the inevitable ups and downs of a rebuild.
A reported crowd of 80,017 — a season low — attended the 38-17 loss to Missouri. At kickoff, there were thousands of empty seats, including huge swaths in the student section — the lifeblood of the fan base, in Mullen’s view.
By game’s end, three-quarters of the stadium was empty.
Mullen hopes his team and the UF fan base bounce back Saturday when South Carolina visits Gainesville led by former Gators’ coach Will Muschamp.
