After close to a 10-year hiatus, the Madness is back.
Florida will host a Midnight Madness event on Friday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. at the O’Connell Center. Admission is free. The event will feature both the UF men’s and women’s basketball programs. Fans will get a sneak peek at new Florida coach Mike White’s team and Florida women’s basketball coach Amanda Butler’s squad.
The Gators last held Midnight Madness in 2006, following the first of back-to-back national title seasons. Former Florida coach Billy Donovan replaced it the following season with an open scrimmage. After that, fans didn’t get a glimpse of UF’s teams until the exhibition opener, though Donovan held some open preseason events for students in recent years.
