Two Gators suspended for bowl game against Michigan

Florida will be without two players during its bowl game against Michigan in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day.

Starting offensive lineman Mason Halter and reserve linebacker Anthony Harrell - both senior transfers - have been ruled academically ineligible for the Gators’ game against the Wolverines.

The Orlando Sentinel was first to report that both of them have been suspended, which was confirmed by Florida.

Halter, a transfer from Fordham, has been a key cog along the Gators’ offensive line this season, starting every game this season. He started 12 games at right tackle and he started at left tackle against Vanderbilt.
