Top UF administrators withdraw from search to replace AD Jeremy Foley

Mike Hill seemed a cinch to be a top candidate to replace outgoing UF athletic director Jeremy Foley.

Ditto Chip Howard - Foley's right-hand man - and Lynda Tealer - one of the nation's most powerful women in sports adminstration.

Instead, none will be a candidate to replace Foley, who is stepping down Oct. 1 after 25 years as one of the nation's most successful ADs.

UF spokesman Steve McClain said Hill, Howard and Tealer will not interview the position "for their own individual reasons."

Hill, the executive associate AD for external affairs, has been at UF since 1993, Howard, who handles internal affairs, since 1989, and Tealer, who heads adminstration, since 2003.
