Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin likes the direction UF’s football and men’s basketball programs are heading toward.
So much so that on Friday, he announced coaches Jim McElwain and Mike White had both been rewarded with raises and a one-year contract extension.
McElwain is 19-8 with the football team and has won back-to-back SEC East titles since coming to Gainesville two years ago. His new deal runs through 2022 and includes a $200,000 raise, according to ESPN.
McElwain will also collect a $400,000 bonus if Florida wins a national championship and can earn up to $100,000 annually if his players perform well academically.
