The Head Ball Coach is about to become “Mr. Two Bits” again for a weekend, and he will have his first Gators quarterback alongside.
Steve Spurrier and Shane Matthews will serve as the honorary “Mr. Two Bits” for the Gators’ home opener Saturday against Northern Colorado, the athletic department announced Tuesday.
It’s not Spurrier’s first time in the cheerleading role, a part of Florida football lore since George Edmondson began the tradition in the late 1940s. The coaching legend was also “Mr. Two Bits” at last year’s home opener against UMass, when the field was renamed in his honor.
