GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Legendary player/former coach/current Florida “ambassador” Steve Spurrier held sway Monday night during a speaking event on the campus of the University of Florida, and he said he would try to help offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier this spring.
Spurrier spoke as part of the ACCENT series, a student-government organization that brings speakers to the UF campus. Past ACCENT speakers have included Bill Clinton, Ann Coulter, Alan Dershowitz, Magic Johnson and Penn and Teller.
Spurrier spoke for more than an hour and told stories highlighting his playing and coaching career. In typical Spurrier fashion, there were plenty of laughs — along with some insight — throughout the evening.
