Six Florida Gators were named to the Associated Press’ All-SEC team on Monday.
Senior punter Johnny Townsend led the way as the Gators’ lone first-team selection. Townsend finished the season as with the second highest punting average in the nation (48.38). 27 of Townsend’s 64 punts sailed 50-yards or longer and 27 pinned opponents inside the 20. Townsend was not named a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, given out to the top punter in the country, but second team punter, Alabama’s J.K. Scott was.
