They say a quarterback is only as good as his receivers. As true as that statement is, a receiver is nothing without an accurate quarterback.
And against the Seminoles, Florida needed more from Austin Appleby.
The graduate transfer from Purdue consistently missed open UF receivers, misfired on his routes and too often remained in a collapsing pocket as the Gators offense managed just a pair of field goals and a special teams touchdown against FSU. The Gators have scored just two offensive touchdowns in the last four matchups with the Seminoles.
“I thought we came out and started fast like we set out to do,” Appleby said.
